Ryan Kalish (Red Bank Catholic) is certainly making the most of his time in the major leagues since his call up on July 31. The 22-year old left-handed hitting outfielder smacked his first career home run to help the Red Sox to a 6-3 victory over the Yankees on Friday night. Kalish had several friends and family members in attendance and it was undoubtably a special moment for the Shore Conference product. Joe McDonald of ESPNBoston.com does a great job with this story here.

Denver Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno (Middletown South) was injured and carted off the field with what looked like a serious hamstring injury during the Broncos first training camp practice on Sunday. The Denver Post reports, however, that an MRI revealed no significant tear to his right hamstring and Moreno will miss three weeks. This is good news at it was initially feared that the former University of Georgia star had completely torn his hamstring. The Broncos need Moreno healthy as he is projected to be the starting running back after running for 947 yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie in 2009.
